On October 5, 2015, American University’s School of International Service will host “Climate Change Governance on the Road to Paris.” The goal of the conference is to both highlight the role of sub-national climate initiatives- such as the Québec and California linked emissions trading system- in addressing climate change, and to discuss expectations for global-level climate governance in lead up to the 21st United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties scheduled to take place in Paris November 2015.
The conference will feature speakers from both Québec and California, as well as other climate change leaders including from the U.S. federal government. We expect to host over 100 attendees at the conference, including public policy leaders from the climate change community in Washington as well as American University students.
